What Is The Baddour Center?

The Baddour Center is a model residential community for adults with intellectual disabilities located in Senatobia, Miss. just 35 miles south of Memphis, Tenn. Located on 120 acres of rolling countryside, the center offers specialized services and programs that promote intellectual, physical, social, emotional, vocational and spiritual growth to 170 residents and day clients. On-campus residential options range from supervised living in one of the 14 group homes to shared independent living in one of the four duplex apartments. Residents stay busy with both work and fun. Baddour provides vocational assessment and training and an opportunity for residents to earn a paycheck as part of a dedicated workforce. The majority of the residents are employed in one of two GoodWorks Complexes which house Baddour Custom Packaging.

Residents may also work in the Horticulture Program. Baddour has a large retail garden center and grows many of its plants and flowers from seeds. We also work to find residents jobs in the community. Our Community Life building houses a full-service gym and an indoor and outdoor pool so that residents can stay fit and achieve personal exercise goals. A variety of Special Olympics and Intramural Programs are also made available throughout the year. Baddour’s on- and off-campus activities are designed to meet the varied interests of residents. Events range from Broadway musicals and spectator sports to shopping and movie nights.

A robust Expressive Arts program allows residents to participate in plays, recitals, art exhibits and talent shows throughout the year. A select group of singers is chosen from among Baddour residents through auditions to be a part of The Miracles, a traveling choir. The Miracles express their faith through music, bridge attitudinal barriers that may exist towards adults with intellectual disabilities and share the mission and ministry of the Baddour Center. In short, The Baddour Center offers a sense of community that is: Close friends. A good job. Home.
